HUUM UKU Local Controller 

It offers the full functionality of the Wi-Fi edition while operating without internet or app-based control. All control happens at the wall panel. This is the right pick for saunas without reliable Wi-Fi coverage, or for buyers who simply prefer a physical panel without app dependency.

It is also a practical choice for shared or commercial sauna spaces where a fixed, straightforward interface is more appropriate than app-based access. The panel gives you everything you need to run the session, including temperature, timer, and lighting, without requiring anyone to download an app or have their phone nearby. For buyers who value simplicity and reliability over remote access, the Local Controller delivers exactly that.

Harvia offers two distinct controller lines: the newer Fenix and the established Xenio, along with a power extension unit for high-capacity installations. Harvia sauna heater controls are designed to provide precise temperature regulation and reliable performance across both product ranges. 

Harvia Fenix 

It is Harvia's newest and most advanced controller for sauna heaters. A sleek 4.3-inch glass touchscreen handles control, with Wi-Fi already built in, so everything works out of the box without needing any extra modules. It connects to the MyHarvia 2 app and includes three customizable heating presets (Mild, Cozy, Hot). 

What sets the Fenix apart is its AI-based learning algorithm that studies how your specific sauna heats up and tells you when it will reach your target temperature. It controls temperature, humidity (on Combi models), lighting, and ventilation, and carries an IPX5 water resistance rating. Passcode protection and child lock come standard. It can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted, inside or outside the sauna room. 

Harvia Xenio 

Harvia Xenio is the previous-generation Harvia digital sauna controller, still widely sold and supported. Xenio sauna control is known for its simple interface and reliable temperature management. It comes in two models:

• CX110 / CX110 Wi-Fi (International): Handles power loads up to 11kW. It is sold in both a standard touch-only version and an upgraded Wi-Fi configuration (CX110XW) that natively links to the MyHarvia 2 app.
• CX170 / CX170 Wi-Fi (International): Handles higher-capacity loads up to 17kW and is similarly available with integrated Wi-Fi capabilities for legacy setups.
• CX30 / CX30 Wi-Fi (North America): Designed for North American 240V/208V systems, this model supports sauna heaters up to 11 kW (single-phase) or 10.5 kW (three-phase), making it ideal for standard residential installations.
• CX45 / CX45 Wi-Fi (North America): Built for heavier loads, this model can scale to support up to 17 kW (single-phase) or 15 kW (three-phase) configurations, though standard residential Wi-Fi retail packages are optimized for 10.8 kW loads before requiring multi-circuit expansion.

LTY17 extends the CX170's capacity from 17kW up to 34kW. It is required for large commercial heaters or dual-heater installations. Like the HUUM Extension Box, this is not a controller — it is a power relay that works alongside the Xenio CX170.

Dual-heater setups are more common than many buyers expect, particularly in larger custom saunas or commercial wellness spaces where a single heater cannot adequately cover the room volume. If you are planning a build like that, the LTY17 is the piece that makes the Xenio CX170 viable at that scale. It is worth confirming your total heater wattage before purchasing. If you are running two heaters together, add their kW ratings to determine whether the LTY17 is needed.

One important note on compatibility: while the Fenix represents the newest smart generation, both the Fenix and Xenio can operate standard mechanical electric heaters. However, if you are looking to manage an older or legacy Harvia model, the established Xenio remains the standard choice for drop-in retrofitting.

• Weekly session scheduling: Through the app, you can set a specific day, time, and sauna type for the entire week. This eliminates the wait entirely. The sauna is already at the desired temperature when you walk in, on whatever schedule you choose.
• Wi-Fi enabled: The Saunum AirIQ control unit works with the Saunum mobile app on iOS and Android, giving full remote control from anywhere with a phone signal. You can start a session from the office, adjust the temperature from the living room, or check the session status without leaving your seat.
• Soft-touch display panel: The panel includes overheating protection and UL listing for safety, meeting the electrical safety standards required for the North American market. The soft-touch interface keeps operation simple even for first-time users.
• Multi-language menu: From Scandinavia to North America, Saunum makes operation simple with a multilingual interface tailored for an international community of sauna users. The system can be used in English, German, Estonian, Finnish, Russian, Swedish, or Slovenian, blending Estonian craftsmanship with worldwide accessibility.
• Power capacity: The AirIQ supports heaters up to 12kW natively, and over 12kW requires a separate contactor box. If you are unsure whether your Saunum heater falls above or below that threshold, check the heater's specification label before ordering.

The AirIQ is designed specifically for Saunum heaters and is not compatible with Harvia or HUUM systems. If you use a Saunum heater and want to control the full sauna environment rather than just temperature, the AirIQ is the controller made for that purpose.

Is Wi-Fi Required?

To operate and track your sauna remotely using a smartphone, go with a model that includes Wi-Fi connectivity. All three brands offer Wi-Fi options. If you prefer panel-only control, HUUM's UKU Local is a solid non-Wi-Fi option, and the Harvia Xenio CX110 covers that use case on the Harvia side.

One more thing worth noting: the controllers on this page are designed for traditional electric sauna heaters. Infrared saunas typically use built-in controllers specific to the infrared sauna brand.
