Harvia Sauna Heaters: Electric and Wood-Burning Models
Harvia is a Finnish sauna heater manufacturer. According to its dealer data, most heaters and stoves in this collection are designed, engineered, and manufactured in Finland.
The electric range starts with the 1.9 kW Vega Compact for rooms as small as 70 cu. ft. It tops out with the 20 kW Virta Pro HL200E for rooms up to 1,130 cu. ft. Wood-burning stoves cover rooms from 177 to over 1,200 cu. ft., depending on the model.
Every product page lists the manufacturer's room size range, voltage and phase, control type and warranty for that model. Use those numbers to make an informed choice rather than relying on a general rule of thumb. Our sizing calculator and team can help you compare.
Before you install, read the North American installation manual for your exact model. A licensed electrician should connect every electric heater. A qualified installer should handle chimney and clearance work for wood stoves.

Harvia Series at a Glance
Harvia KIP: Wall-Mounted, Two Control Options
KIP is a wall-mounted electric heater from 4.5 to 8 kW, for rooms from 100 to 425 cu. ft. It comes in two versions.
- KIP B (built-in controls): Temperature and timer dials sit on the heater. Each cycle runs for one hour, and you can delay the start by up to 8 hours. KIP B models run on 240V single-phase.
- KIP W (external control): No controls on the heater. You pair it with a separate control such as the Xenio CX170. KIP W comes in 240V single-phase or 208V three-phase.
KIP holds 44 lbs of stones and comes in stainless steel or Graphite Black.
Harvia Vega Compact: For the Smallest Rooms
Vega Compact is a wall-mounted stainless steel heater with built-in controls. There are two models:
- Vega Compact 1900: 1.9 kW, 120V, for rooms from 70 to 106 cu. ft.
- Vega Compact 3500: 3.5 kW, 240V, for rooms from 70 to 175 cu. ft.
Both hold 29 lbs of stones. Both are hardwired, so plan for an electrician even on a small build.

Harvia The Wall: Slim Wall-Mount With Illuminated Controls
The Wall is a 240V single-phase heater with built-in, illuminated on/off, time and temperature controls. You can preset it up to 8 hours ahead.
- 6 kW (SW60, SWS60): rooms from 141 to 282 cu. ft.
- 8 kW (SW80, SWS80): rooms from 176 to 423 cu. ft.
SW models have a black finish and SWS models are stainless steel. The heater can be installed on either the right or left side, with an option to integrate it into the sauna bench.
Harvia Spirit: Rounded Design, Remote-Start Safety
Spirit is a wall-mounted Graphite Black heater in 6, 8 and 9 kW (SP60E, SP80E, SP90E), for rooms from 177 to 494 cu. ft. It holds 110 lbs of stones.
The Spirit has no built-in controls and operates through an external Xenio control unit. Harvia also offers it in a package with the Fenix control system. It connects to the MyHarvia app over Wi-Fi. Harvia builds in two safety sensors, one for the heater and one for the room. The heater also cannot switch on if something is placed on top of it, which is what makes remote start safe.
An optional embedding flange (HSP1) lets you set Spirit into the bench. Harvia's North American manual rates Spirit for household use only, and it takes rounded stones only.

Harvia Cilindro: Stone Pillar With Adjustable Steam
Cilindro is a floor-standing stainless steel heater for side-wall or corner placement. Electric models run from 6 to 10.5 kW, for rooms from 141 to 636 cu. ft.
- PC60, PC80, PC90: built-in controls.
- PC60E, PC80E, PC90E, PC110E: external Xenio control.
Cilindro holds 200 lbs of stones (264 lbs for the PC110E), in direct contact with the elements. The open outer shell lets each bather change the steam. Water on the side gives softer steam, and water on top of the stone pillar gives sharper steam. Optional embedding flanges let you set it into a bench. On models with built-in controls, the timer allows up to 60 minutes of heating and a delayed start of up to 8 hours. Harvia's North American manual rates Cilindro for well-insulated family saunas.
Harvia Virta: Three Lines From 6 to 20 kW
Virta is a floor-standing Graphite Black heater for side-wall or corner placement. Harvia's North American Virta and Virta Combi manuals describe the heater for well-insulated family saunas. All Virta models use an external control.
| Line | Models | Power | Room size | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Virta | HL60E, HL80E, HL90E, HL110E | 6-10.5 kW | 177-635 cu. ft. | 208V three-phase option on HL110E |

Stone capacity ranges from 110 lbs for the HL60E to HL90E models to 264 lbs for the HL200E.

Harvia Club: For High-Use Saunas
Harvia Club is available in three configurations: K10G, K12.5G, and K15G. Rated output runs from 9.8 to 14.8 kW, for rooms from 388 to 989 cu. ft. Each size is available in 240V single-phase or 208V three-phase.
Club is floor-mounted with stainless steel inside and out, and holds 132 lbs of stones. Multi-layer construction keeps the outer surface cooler. It runs from an external Xenio control, with an optional 24-hour time clock.
Harvia designed the Club series for a range of settings, including apartment buildings, hotels, holiday resorts, sports centers, swimming halls, and large family saunas.
Harvia Wood-Burning Stoves
Harvia wood stoves need no electrical supply. Ratings below are from the IDM; the live collection may not carry every model (see Open items).
| Line | Models in IDM | Power | Room size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linear | Linear 18 Compact, Linear 16, Linear 22 GreenFlame, Linear 22 GreenFlame ES | 14.3-17.9 kW | 177-636 cu. ft. |
| Legend | Legend 150, 150 SL, 240 GreenFlame, 240 SL, 240 DUO, 300 | 15.9-23.5 kW | 212-988 cu. ft. |

| Pro | Pro 20 family, Pro 26, Pro 36, Pro 36 DUO | 24.1-31 kW | 282-1,271 cu. ft. |
GreenFlame models (Legend 240 GreenFlame and Linear 22 GreenFlame) use Harvia's cleaner-burn design. Harvia's data credits them with 70% lower carbon monoxide emissions and about 20% lower particulate emissions.

Harvia Electric Sauna Heaters
Harvia electric heaters may feature built-in controls or require a separate control unit. Check the control requirements for your chosen model before ordering.
- Built-in controls: KIP B, Vega Compact, The Wall, Cilindro PC60, PC80 and PC90.
- External control required: KIP W, Spirit, Cilindro PC60E to PC110E, Virta, Virta Combi, Virta Pro and Club.
North American Harvia electric heaters are hardwired. Depending on the model, they run on 120V (Vega Compact 1900), 240V single-phase, or 208V three-phase. Amp draw and breaker size are on each product page. For example, the KIP80B draws 33.3 A on a 40 A breaker.
Check the installation manual for your specific Harvia heater before selecting a breaker. Harvia’s North American manuals for the KIP, Spirit, Cilindro, Virta, Virta Combi, and Club series advise against using a GFCI breaker. The KIP manual specifies a standard two-pole breaker. Follow the manual for your exact model and your local code, and have a licensed electrician connect the heater.
Time limits depend on the control. KIP B and Cilindro PC60, PC80 and PC90 run one hour per cycle. Heaters on a Xenio control follow that control's settings: Harvia's U.S. page for the Xenio CX170 lists 1 to 6 hours for family saunas and 1 to 12 hours for commercial saunas. Harvia's data lists a maximum temperature setting of 194°F (90°C) for every electric model in this collection.

Harvia Wood-Burning Stoves: What to Plan For
A wood stove runs without electricity, so it suits cabins and sites with no electrical service.
Each stove has its own chimney, clearance, floor protection and stone requirements. Stone loads range from 66 lbs (M3) to 572 lbs (Legend 300). Harvia offers chimney kits, protective sheaths and bedding for several lines.
Before you buy, read the stove's installation manual and check your local building code and permit rules. Have a qualified installer do the chimney work.

Built-In Controls vs External Controls
Models with built-in controls feature dials or buttons on the heater, eliminating the need to install a separate control unit.
External controls, Xenio and Fenix, mount on a wall inside or outside the sauna and use a separate power unit. Harvia's Wi-Fi controls connect to the MyHarvia app for remote control and monitoring. The Xenio CX170 can delay the start by up to 12 hours.
Each heater lists its compatible control on its product page. For example, KIP W pairs with the Xenio CX170, and Virta Combi needs the Xenio Combi CX30C.
Optional accessories include stone packs, safety railings (such as HSP3M for Spirit) and embedding flanges for Spirit, Cilindro and Virta.

How to Size a Harvia Heater
Choose your heater based on the manufacturer's specified sauna room volume range rather than relying on a general rule of thumb.
- Multiply length × width × height in feet to get your room volume.
- Add volume for uninsulated surfaces such as glass, stone, concrete or tile. Harvia's KIP manual adds 1.2 m³ for each m² of uninsulated surface, about 3.9 cu. ft. per sq. ft. Check your model's manual for its own rule.
- Choose a model whose listed room range includes your adjusted volume.
- If you fall between two models, use our sizing calculator or call our team.

Harvia for Home and Commercial Saunas
Room ranges and Harvia's product descriptions point to these fits:
- Small home saunas: Vega Compact.
- Small to medium home saunas: KIP, The Wall and Spirit.
- Medium saunas: Cilindro and standard Virta.
- Large or high-use saunas: Virta Pro for large rooms, and Club for high-use saunas. Harvia lists Club for apartment buildings, hotels, holiday resorts, sports centers and swimming halls, as well as large family saunas.
For commercial installations, consult the manufacturer's manual to confirm the specific installation requirements. Harvia's North American manuals rate Spirit for household use only, and rate Cilindro, Virta and Virta Combi for family saunas with a three-month guarantee for communal use. The Club manual identifies the series as suitable for large saunas and specifies a one-year guarantee. Commercial saunas may also need the control set for commercial operation and sign-off from your local inspector.

Safety, Certifications and Materials
Certifications vary by model. In Harvia's data, KIP is UL listed, and Cilindro, Club, Vega Compact, Virta and The Wall are ETL listed. Harvia's U.S. pages state that Spirit meets UL 875, the standard for electric dry-bath heaters. The exact listing for each model is on its product page.
Safety features differ by model. The KIP includes an overheat protector with a reset button, while the Wall has built-in overheat protection. Spirit features two safety sensors and will not turn on if an object is placed on top.
Materials vary too. KIP stainless, Cilindro, Club, Vega Compact and The Wall SWS are stainless steel. Virta, Spirit, The Wall SW and KIP Black have a Graphite Black finish.
Clearances, ventilation and wiring differ by model. Follow the installation manual for your exact model, and have a qualified installer and licensed electrician do the work.

Energy Use
Operating costs depend on the heater's power rating, preheating time, room insulation, and electricity rates. A correctly sized heater in a well-insulated sauna reaches the desired temperature more efficiently. Timer and delayed-start settings can also help reduce unnecessary heating.
For wood, Harvia's GreenFlame stoves are rated for 70% lower carbon monoxide and about 20% lower particulate emissions. Harvia also sells spare parts, which helps keep a heater in service longer.
